I grew up between NYC and DC, but have been in this part of the world for 20+ years now.

I am fine with anything over 20F - no one back home believes it's actually comfortable - but subzero is still too much for me and my damaged soft tissue. So I raise a frozen beer to you for attending!

My mind just drifted to the NHL Winter Classic at Target Field (the coldest recorded outdoor NHL game.) Covering sports in Minnesota includes set topics.

Considering the way ICE keeps taking people from routine immigration hearings, I'm sure when they re-start them, they'll detain everyone just before it starts because without this mandatory ceremony, they haven't dotted the last i or crossed the last t.

(I wish that was sarcasm.)

My favorite anecdote from a Cathedral tour:

The Cathedral was started shortly after the Capitol was completed. Bishop Ireland apparently told the architect of the Cathedral that the Cathedral had to be taller because man shouldn't be higher than God.

And yet, you can get a Borat-style mankini for for $9.90.

(Because this just looks like that mankini in non-neon colors to me...)

What about hand gestures?

Followed closely by my second favorite:

Dazel Ash Goat Cheese - an artisanal goat cheese with an edible ash rind that was ridiculously smooth and creamy. Paired with rosemary honey and a piece of shortbread.

I did NOT want to leave my seat. SO MUCH GOOD CHEESE.

(This one was my favorite. I had to restrain myself from picking up another two plates.)

Brie-style Baron Bigod from Fen Farm Dairy sliced open to sandwich a layer of Black Truffle & British Cream Cheese. With charcoal crackers on the side.

I just got to eat at Pick & Cheese in London, so I can absolutely confirm that nothing is as excellent as a huge pile of cheese.

Except for a conveyor of cheese rolling past your seat...

Well this is depressing AF: so apparently there was an approved float design, and then this was inserted instead.

Considering the school covers grades K-8, that means a teacher, parent-volunteer, and/or late tween/early teen fully planned this bullshit.

As the descendant of Roman Catholic Poles killed in Auschwitz - there were an estimated 1.8 million Poles killed (mostly RC), as Hitler considered ethnic Poles as ethnically inferior and tried to wipe them out - allow me to say:

We still have this costume 9 years later, though Stormy is a bit stouter these days and the belly strap barely fits...

They had Trump on for clicks/likes/listens.

Somewhere down-thread someone posted that Mark Ruffalo replied to Rogan that his protests now are BS since Project 2025 was out there all along.

So to the "Manosphere"...

I just had to Google where this came from and I'm sorry I did.

Screenshots from Nexstar media outlet NewsNation so you don't have to give them any more traffic (but the URL is in the Alt text should you choose to go ahead and do so).

In a few days, it will officially be 15 years since I lost my mother to colon cancer.

As with most of these anniversaries, I've marked them with kosher deli sandwiches, Dr. Brown's soda, and rugelach. (She REALLY loved rugelach.)

Miss you every damn day, Mom.

Here's the overview of the two Children's/YA Lit classes the lecturer teaches from her 2024 CV, clearly stating the focus on gender, sexuality, and race.

In 2010, thepublished an article about Nikola Tesla and how tech firms were idolizing him.

In the article they discuss The Prestige as an example of his cultural relevancy, and so they used the David Bowie portrayal for the article hedcut. Instead of Tesla himself.
