All the lionesses work together for the pride, and raising the little ones is no exception. They will suckle each others’ cubs without bias.

In any pride, the lioness forms the core of the group. To her falls the majority of the labour and responsibility. From raising cubs, to hunting and protecting the pride’s territory, she is very much how the group survives and thrives.

Crazy Nests: A Red Pandas Hideaway
Within their bamboo habitat, red pandas construct nests to rest, sleep & rear their young. These nests are usually built in the hollows of trees or in the forks of branches, high above the ground to keep them safe from ground-dwelling predators..

Did you know...?
Red pandas not only build a heit cozy nests high up in trees to avoid predators but also cleverly choose locations close to their favorite food source, bamboo.
This allows them to have easy access to it without having to venture too far away from their safe hideaway!

The Himalayan red panda's whiter coat helps it blend into it's mountain habitat, providing better camouflage against potential predators. Their fur is more muted & their facial markings are less distinct.
It can be found in the lush, misty forests of the Eastern Himalayas.
The Chinese red panda calls southwestern China and northern Myanmar home. This panda sports a more vibrant reddish coat, giving it a slightly bolder appearance. Their facial markings are more pronounced with darker "teartracks" under their eyes.

Similarities & shared challenges
Despite the difference in their physical appearance & their geographical range, both subspecies share many similarities: same diet, mostly bamboo, & exhibit similar behavior & social structures. They share the same threats as well.

Today we visited our zoo. We have two red pandas, a boy and a girl, I think Himalayan pandas, the caretaker didn't know. I always seem to ask hard questions.
I learned today that they're loners.
Red pandas are truly the fashion icons of the animal kingdom! Their beautiful, thick dues comes in a fabulous mix of colors, ranting from rusty red to deep brown, with touches of black and white to complete the look.
Their bushy, ringed tails are not only eye-catching but also serve a practical purpose. The alternating light & dark rings work as fantastic camouflage among the sunlight of the forest. They also help balance when they climb a tree or leap from branch to branch.
