Hi Bluesky, we're The Humane Research Trust. 👋

In our 60 years as a charity we've funded over 280 scientific projects across the UK, advancing knowledge of human diseases WITHOUT animal experimentation.

We're striving towards a future for science that doesn't involve animal suffering. Join us! 🧬
Thanks to everyone who purchased Christmas cards at one of the Charity Christmas Cards shops across Cheshire this past festive season, we've raised over £1,300! 🎄

This money will go towards funding innovative medical research that replaces animal experiments with humane alternatives.

As it's a new year, we thought we'd take a moment to re-introduce ourselves.

We're The Humane Research Trust, and we support scientists at leading UK universities to study human diseases.

Unlike most charities, the science we fund is 100% cruelty-free.

Animal models of sepsis are inadequate. We need a different approach.

Support the campaign by PETA to urge the UK Government to include sepsis as a priority topic in its strategy to phase out animal testing. ⤵️

Zebrafish are widely used in labs because they're presumed to be 'less sentient' than other animals.

Yet mounting evidence shows fish are sentient: they feel pain, respond to stress, and exhibit complex behaviours.

The UK govt. recently revealed that British scientists experimented on 1,936 monkeys last year alone - and over 30,000 since 2014.

We think there's a better way. This #WorldMonkeyDay we're standing against procedures on these animals.

Rights aren’t optional - they’re fundamental. Yet the current UK law (ASPA) governing the use of animals in laboratories isn't being enforced.

On #InternationalAnimalRightsDay, we’re calling for stronger enforcement of the law to protect animals.
