"They're putting persecuted Christian refugees in camps in the jungle" sounds like something Glenn Beck would accuse the Obama administration of doing and yet now it's a pillar of the Republican agenda.

JFK on why he founded USAID.

“The economic collapse of those free but less-developed nations which now stand poised between sustained growth and economic chaos would be disastrous to our national security, harmful to our comparative prosperity and offensive to our conscience”.

If you have lots of tedious stuff to do, that perhaps you don’t want to do, and really all
you want to do is make cookies and stare and your Christmas tree, may I recommend this album to help you stay zen and focused.

Feeling rebellious so I decorated my computer. My kids said GenX is too mature for that but I didn’t listen.

Tried this pear rosemary honey cake and I’ve made it twice more since then. Perfect fall dessert. Baking is a perfectly legitimate coping mechanism. 😅

I was up all night with intense aches, chills, and 101 fever. Why? Because I got the shingles vaccine yesterday. Why? Because I don’t want shingles. Simple as that. Even a complication free infection is miserable, but complications can be life altering. If you’re eligible, get the shot!

This is a great community ethos. Did you know there’s also a “Newskies” feed with first posts from new users? I sometimes go in there and say hi to new folks coming on.
I think all of us should spend five minutes doing this each day:

👉 Search Bluesky for “first post”
👉 Filter by “latest”
👉 Like and welcome at least 10 new people

It makes a big difference and it could just make you a new friend!

I’m down about 15,000 followers on the other site in a week. The migration over here is real!

I want to rebuild my audience as best I can. Help me out by liking and sharing this post, then responding with a 💙?

I’ll follow back as many of you as I can.

“Philosophy teaches us to feel uncertain about the things that seem self-evident. Propaganda, on the other hand, teaches us to accept as self-evident matters about which it would be reasonable to suspend our judgment or to feel doubt.”
