Some orange jelly spot? A lovely partial veil hanging off a cap and a Lycoperdon umbrinum, Umber-brown puffball. Until a few years ago this forest was logged consistently, so there are no old trees and it is dense with little understory. It’ll take many decades to rebuild. #FungiFriends 🍄📸

Marasmiellus candidus, aka Fairy parachutes, much larger than I usually see them. Second, Lepiota atrodisca, which were all over in many sizes, and some others I didn’t ID. #FungiFriends 🍄📸

Cleanup of trash, buried abandoned camps, and lots of ducks along the Eel River yesterday. Thanks to the volunteers and city of Eureka for providing some tools and trash bins.

I found a few crab spiders yesterday waiting for their meals to fly in.

Spent yesterday morning cleaning up areas around this year’s native plants in the Wigi Wetlands of Eureka. Also cleared out two homeless encampments filled with trash, needles, batteries and a big screen television. #Humboldt #trails
