I think I'm a reasonable reader and my read is that you got defensive when pushed for a definition of "better," started suspecting "traps," and levying unjustifiable accusations of bad faith.

My guess is that it's doing much the same as they always have done but making some, likely hugely costly, passes over large portions of the entire text that older or cheaper models don't do. I remember when it couldn't complete numbered lists.
