The fact that the original statue is at UN - GENEVA and was acknowledged, at its acceptance, to represent, among other things, international cooperation in prosecuting war criminals should probably give people pause.

This just totally misses the mark. News consumption and anxiety are directly correlated. News that makes readers feel hopeful will lead to lower click-through rates. This is not some personal foible of elitist media. It's economics for ad-driven news orgs to try to shape outlook of their readers.
For sure some of the legacy media outlets are downplaying the protests because they’re aligned with Trump, but I think an even bigger factor is how many elite journalists have a patrician disdain for the idea that politics can happen in the streets and not just the CNN green room.
