Here're a couple of stills of this morning's common buzzard. In the first pic you can see it has wet feathers from its bath. It had dried out by the time of the second pic. 🦅🪶 #birds #birdphotography

Here're a few woodland birds I met this morning at Limpsfield, while watching the buzzard (previous post). A female greenfinch, a chiffchaff, and a dunnock. 🐦🐦🐦🐦🙂🪶 #birds #birdphotography

My local buzzard living along the river Eden (Limpsfield) gave me some lovely autumnal photographic opportunities this morning. It had evidently had a bath, and was drying itself in the morning sun, occasionally calling. 🦅😍🪶 #birds #birdphotography

Here're a few stills of my local buzzard (Limpsfield). Most mornings, it's perched in the same row of trees along the river Eden, sunning itself and calling. 😍🦅🪶 #birds #birdphotography

I caught up this morning with the very chilled-out buzzard living along the river Eden, in Limpsfield. Preening in the morning sun 😍🦅 #birds #birdphotography

I walked from Oxted up the North Downs this afternoon in between the rain showers. I met four raptor species today: red kite, common buzzard, a male kestrel (not pictured) and, unusually, a hobby! Initially I thought it was a peregrine, until I saw the orange pantss 🐦😍🦅 #birds #birdphotography

Finally for today, here's a moody shot of a robin that briefly perched for me on a lit branch against a mostly-dark forest backdrop. 🐦🪶 #birds #birdphotography

Not the perfect angle, but I don't often get the chance to photography a pheasant in flight. They tend to spend most of their time on the ground, and only fly when startled. This one was chasing one of its colleagues, so wasn't flying away from me. 🪶🐦 #birds #birdphotography

Jackdaws are common birds, but they're beautiful! This one in St Peter's Church-yard, Limpsfield, this morning. 🐦‍⬛🪶 #birds #birdphotography

Here's an adult goldfinch keeping a close eye on one of its fledglings, in Limpsfield this morning. Note the absence of red/black/white facial feathers on the juvenile. 😍🪶 #birds #birdphotography

Another clip of this morning's chilled-out common buzzard, warming itself in the sun in along the river Eden, Limpsfield. So glad to see one living within 5 minutes of my front door! #birds #birdphotography 🪶🦅😍

(sound on!) Here's a very chilled-out common buzzard I met in the middle of Limpsfield this morning! 🦅😍

I rode the Bianchi down to Brighton this morning, to enjoy a ride in late-summer countryside before it starts to feel autumnal. Heard and saw lots of buzzard family-groups, the adults calling the juveniles to come fly and hunt. 🚴🏻‍♂️🌊⛵🐟🍟🦅🦅🦅

The crime / the criminal #proofOfCat
A large matryoshka doll, of the sort designed to contain a bottle of vodka, lies in two halves on a mat on a wooden floor. Luckily it is unbroken. A ginger cat sits loaf-style at the very tippy top of an open shelving unit holding many plants in pots. It used to also hold a large matryoshka doll.

Maybe! There are more sparrowhawks around than most people would realise, as they tend to be skulky and shy, unless activity pursuing prey.

Hi Jos, I have not yet been lucky enough to have a sparrowhawk in my garden. I've just moved from East Dulwich down to Oxted, so here's hoping I might see one. From what you describe that sounds very likely to be a sparrowhawk. They do favour suburban gardens with bird feeders... 😬

Ears, eyes, and cobwebs🐰👁️🕸️. There were plenty of rabbits out quietly foraging in farmland around the North Downs this morning... 🐇🐇

I met a family-group of wrens on my walk in the North Downs this morning. Two adults and what seemed to be three fledglings, living in a bramble patch around a mature tree. Note the very short tail, indicating a young bird 😍🪶 #birds #birdphotography

I saw all three of the common raptors on my local walk around the North Downs from Oxted this morning: red kite, buzzard, and a male kestrel (with mid-morning snack). 🦅🦅🦅🐁💀🪶 #birds #birdphotography
