I wouldn't say it's a bad season, but there was some pretty bio-essentialist stuff in there, and the increasing reliance on nostalgia bait cameos and references is getting tiring

Whilst mostly true, there are still aspects of the original epsidoes that sway towards depicting them as a necessary evil (even though to us they're obviously wrong) such as admiral Ross working with Sloan

The direction especially bugs me because I've seen a few people claiming you can ignore the obvious thematic and writing problems and enjoy it as an action film, but it also really sucks at being an engaging action film

Whilst the original DS9 section 31 episodes are also guilty of this (albeit to a lesser extent), at least they had the self awareness to make them the villains, something that the heroes of the show are disgusted by

Men like Andrew Tate are weak, unintelligent, insecure and deeply pathetic. The harder they try, the more feeble they come across as. What's worrying to me is that a generation of boys don't see this.

The low resolution digital camera can certainly be a little jarring, but on the other hand, it makes rain look this incredible
