Oddly enough the government went further in their draft legislation than I expected - they at least mentioned finding alternative funding models for rolling stock.

For clarity, this government has so far:
- cancelled HS2 north of Birmingham (previous government hadn't actually done that formally)
- cancelled electrification of the Midland Main Line
- cancelled West Yorkshire mass transit
- cancelled the trans-Pennine high speed line

Every once in a while, a celebrity, like Chris O' Dowd or Richard Ayoade or Jimmy Carr* will inch their heads above the parapet and support Graham Linehan.
Why isn't it the job of a journalist to go back to those people and ask them to comment on his supporting ICE shooting a woman in the head?

Protest against complicity in genocide in Keir Starmer's and Labour's UK now carries an extra-judicial death sentence. All the Palestine Action prisoners are asking is for a judicial process worthy of a normal democracy. This will never be forgiven or forgotten.

watching Helen Lewis claim she's got the key to understanding American politics is like watching a cat chasing a laser pointer, except the cat is somehow claiming it's figured out how to solve world hunger. also the cat is transphobic and will try to get you fired if you point this out
