Some of my gaming friends don’t even watch Nintendo directs, state of plays, sgf or literally anything. I watch them like 4 times each.

Played Pokemon Z/A at PAX West and it alleviated the worry I had for this game. It feels good and the battles are a pinch more engaging than Arceus which I like. It’s still a Pokemon game and isn’t that big leap that folks want but will still be a good time. Also 60 frames.

Played Kirby Air Riders at PAX West and it was hectic as hell. There is so much going on and so many things on screen but I still really enjoyed my time with it. Made me much more excited to give it a go at release.

The tenure of Phil Spencer and Herman Hulst should be highlighted mainly by the failure to keep people employed. No doubt they will be remembered by revenue. The way these companies operate is indicative of the culture and country we live in.

An argument I've seen against unionization is that workers demanding better from employers will only incentivize bosses to replace them with AI. There is nothing you can give to or give-up for a growth-obsessed CEO that would discourage them from trying this regardless. Fight for what's yours now.

Microsoft gaming and Microsoft as a whole blatantly lied when acquiring all these studios. When do folks stop shrugging their shoulders when these layoffs keep happening and start holding them accountable?

Important to note; Japan has way stricter laws around laying people off. Actual protections from its government that force companies to do things like have execs take pay cuts before doing a mass layoff. The solution to this problem is not a “good” CEO. It’s systemic and complete reform.
I remember a time Nintendo leader Satoru Iwata took a paycut himself to prevent laying off developers. They really don't make the like they used to.
