Sometimes, nothing makes things more succinct and clear than a simple cartoon. This is excellent. I am sad that it is the case, as there are so many good Americans (many of my ethical heroes are Americans) but it is also sadly, true.

4) In the 80's many of us may remember the Thatcher government repeatedly threatening the BBC for its “liberal bias” (a claim you still hear from conservatives about any public service!) and she pressured BBC leadership through funding threats and public statements.

3) Richard Nixon's administration monitored the media and attempted to pressure networks to provide coverage that favoured him. His aides compiled “enemies lists” of "hostile" journalists (Trump's 'Fake News'). This was mostly behind-the-scenes by making direct contacts with network executives.

2) we have all heard of Senator Joseph McCarthy and his paranoid anti-Communist investigations. McCarthy directly targeted journalists, writers, and networks. He pressured networks to avoid airing material he deemed “subversive”, threatening congressional action or public exposure.

I am not an American but, I absolutely agree with your position. I was very moved by your words on the protection of children from guns. Gun violence must end. The people have had enough suffering.
