I did wonder if that was the point - but that would require chess, not checkers, and I've long since lost faith in media execs to be "for the people".

And so it goes again 😞

Yes in Canada all elections you have anonymity - you can say who you vote for but only outside of the polling stations. It's more of an etiquette than a law. I have family members you never know who they voted for and they change depending on the politics of the time due to multi party options.

It was a good start. I definitely don't know much about the American political system so I have some reading to do!

I'll have to look into American History and Political Science more for sure.

I was thinking since they exist in North America perhaps there's that option in the USA which isn't yet recognized officially or may emerge in the future (but, I also recognize even as the third party in a multi party system the Canadian impacts in Parliament are quite different vs 2 party system).

Canada (being further left than American democracy from what I can tell as a layperson) has a further left than liberal party (NDP) but they haven't been federally elected yet since their inception in 1962 (only provincially elected one time each and in not all provinces total).

Is there any chance Citizens United could be overturned in the future?

Thanks everyone for the direction to take my thoughts!

My Canadian is showing but - can't a new party just form, one that is not Republicans and not Democrats? Could capture those voters who aren't far left or far right. It just seems it would be more functional - the crowds going out to see AOC and Bernie, they seem to have found a large audience?

Thankfully not presently. The 5 year plan has us back in Canada 🍁🇨🇦

Yes I had time to see the most recent few and I'm definitely interested in my line of work (healthcare and healthcare education) but also a unique living perspective of being a CDN living in the USA for the next few years. I want to keep those 3.2 years 😂

Agree there is a high degree of complexity!
September 16, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Thank you. How do we explain the R vs D vs CDN though, it seems more than just economical unless I'm not understanding the context of states having vast differences in quality of life indicators directly related to dominating political party?

Unless one can't tease out if there is better healthcare when capitalist vs later socialist as it's also embedded in less death by age vs in the flatter slopes?
September 16, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Does that explain the Repub vs Democrat vs Canada each having such smooth slopes? I don't see in the US lines a jump when insurance economics change by age.

Is that social determinants of health driven or?
