i think that more autistic people should consider working some kind of "menial" 9-5 desk job. i was told my whole life i wouldn't thrive in a desk job bc im creative and gifted but i lasted one year in a creative industry before i burnt out. now i sit at a desk and ive never been happier lol

It's the problem with people viewing things from a purely aesthetic lens (gray bleary-eyed desk job vs colorful spunky creative work) rather than "is this good support for my financial/social situation?"

I think not a lot of people know just how soul-sucking it is for something as fickle as a creative/fluid job to be your lifeblood. The sheer stress of not knowing what to do or whether you'll be paid this month or whether you'll even make it to the end of the day is enough to drain anyone's sanity.
