He is decidedly not at the top of my 2028 Primary Tier List but if he wants to be the human snowplow here, I have no complaints

even, yes, even your PC PSU and phone chargers. Incandescent lamps have something like a 9x inrush, motors can vary from 7x to 9x. the inrush for a switching power supply is constrained only by the ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) of the capacitors inside

they trip at a... I think it's a square root or something of 'how much past the rating'. so if you're drawing lets say, 17 Amps for under a minute, it won't trip, but if you're drawing 20 amps, it'll trip pretty quick. (most loads have a HUGE inrush current compared to steady run, (cont)

even if it was never OVERloaded. the heat buildup during yard tool use is much lower, because they run in short (<30 min) cycles with time to cool down

that A/C units are run for, compared to the 'minutes' of runtime of something like a hedge pruner, chainsaw, etc. The heat buildup over time, even with adequate AWG, can cause the lower temperature plastic to soften. you can tell a cord has been long-term loaded by the melty look around the pins (c)

"Air Conditioner" Rated cords also have a higher-temperature plastic around the conductors and in the plug bodies. look for the different colored plastic (that probably feels harder when you fingernail it) from the rest of the plug body. This is to withstand the often extremely long runtimes (cont)

there are super-duty extension cords specifically sold for air conditioners that are designed to handle the constant high load but even then, Really Ask Yourself, 'can I put this somewhere else?'. I have a singlex outlet under the window for the a/c so nothing else can get pluged into it when in use

throwback nostalgia moment to Hot Wheels World City sets (you have to use that name to find them, there's a hell of a lot of 'city' names in the lineup)
