👏 Many thanks to everyone who took part in the Replication Games on Friday, October 3rd!

6 teams joined the challenge, 5 in person and 1 online, bringing curiosity and collaboration to every step and making this event a truly inspiring collective experience around reproducibility & open science.

Took part yesterday in @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social's Replication Games, it was such a nice experience! People were lovely and the work was a very fun challenge.

Thanks to @i4replication.bsky.social and @janmarcus.de for organizing this, it was absolutely worth enduring the ride from Dortmund. 😄

Computer science: Join our team of computer scientists to develop three AI reproducibility agents (i) computational reproducibility, (ii) detecting coding errors and (iii) robustness!
i4replication.bsky.social
Public health: We are about to mass reproduce hundreds of studies published in leading public health journals. Our main focus will be on early life interventions and tropical diseases.

Join our team and help us make those litteratures more credible!
i4replication.bsky.social
The work can be done in Ottawa, Canada or virtually. Some of our team members are in Ottawa, while others are in Toronto, Brazil, Colombia, Germany and the Netherlands!

🚨I4R is looking to hire postdoc fellows in public health and computer science!

The postdoc will join a team of researchers and help mass reproduce studies in leading public health journals or develop AI replicator agents.

At @i4replication.bsky.social it is our ambition to foster a replication culture in the social sciences – and we hence welcome if our approaches are replicated as well: Replication Games on using LLM in experiments, in Valencia and Oxford. talkingtomachines.org/projects/ime...

5/ Undergraduate, master, PhD, postdoc and faculty are welcome to join in-person or virtually! Economics/management/politics/psychology!

4/ Why join?
Hands-on reproduction
Coauthorship to a meta paper
Learn reproducible workflows
Be part of one of the largest experiment on AI in science
i4replication.bsky.social
3/ In one day, as an individual participant, you’ll try to reproduce and test robustness of results from published social science studies—while we measure how AI changes performance vertically and horizontally.
i4replication.bsky.social
2/ What’s new?
A follow-up to our AI Games (www.econstor.eu/bitstream/10...), this round to test how AI affects coding and research across the expertise ladder (undergrads, grads vs faculty) and across disciplines (econ, management, poli sci, psych).
i4replication.bsky.social
1/ The Vertical & Horizontal AI Replication Games debut at the University of Ottawa on Oct 16! This is the first event feeding into our next paper, and all participants will be listed as coauthors.

The Brno Replication Games were a success!🥳 Many thanks to our awesome replicators who spotted a range of coding errors and fixed incorrectly specified models. Many thanks also to @econmuni.bsky.social for having us: you are the reason economists love coming back every year😊

As always, we are thankful to the replicators who have worked so hard on this late 2024 and early 2025. It’s been pretty relaxed since March. Just waiting for editorial decisions and packages.
i4replication.bsky.social
We will have more consequential updates shortly. We are just waiting for editors to make their decisions public. Expect a mix of amazing editorial work, to well done, thanks for trying, this is a joke, and what the hell?
i4replication.bsky.social
We reached out to the editors yesterday and got a response right away: “Thanks for alerting us. The co-Editor who handled it will look into the replication package.”
i4replication.bsky.social
We also got very surprised to see a new paper published just now: “Corruption in Cyclone Relief and Reconstruction: Evidence from a Public Fund Distribution in Bangladesh” at the Journal of Development Studies.
i4replication.bsky.social
but we got a package for “Non-price energy conservation information and household energy consumption in a developing country: Evidence from an RCT”. We will investigate that paper later on. The editors in chief seem serious about our requests, which is refreshing.
i4replication.bsky.social
We also requested two replication packages from the editors at JEEM. We have not yet received one for the cyclone paper “Do networks matter after a natural disaster? A study of resource sharing within an informal network after Cyclone Aila”...
i4replication.bsky.social
We requested a replication package back in April. The editor in chief forwarded our request to the authors but we never heard back from the editor.
