The coverage of Sept 11 was a massive dynamic shift from the 20th century, but we were years away from mainstream smartphone usage and MySpace didn’t even exist. Think of how much exposure has increased in just the last 24 years. Now stack it against what we knew about JFK, Nixon, Reagan.

They don’t see it in their leaders and they are surrounded by people in their communities who preach about right or wrong while sneaking off to write depraved Tweets or firmly standing against who some kids really are. How the hell do we continue to implore the value of decency to these kids?

Which is odd since Billy Joel’s “She’s Right On Time” or “Christmas” by The Who are lyrically far more thematically appropriate and yet rarely played in a Christmas context.

I always think of traditional in the literal sense, e.g. Christmas carols people have been singing forever. We turned Happy Xmas INTO a tradition, but some of us have parents who didn’t hear that song until their 30s. That’s a far cry from the 16th century’s figgy puddings.

Remember when the success of a movie led other filmmakers and studios to up the ante with something different? Sure there were knock-offs in story or vibe. And yeah there were sequels and adaptations. But there was also room for new stories that were told in one movie.
