Wymcycle resistance at the Davis, California #NoKings march
A custom recumbent tricycle enclosed in two large metal circles, from which an inverted American flag and a “No Kings” sign are suspended, along with random skeletons that I didn’t capture well in this shot. The rider is a local legend and the designer/builder of many such mutant art bikes.

I’ve been visiting Point Reyes almost my entire life. On the one hand, the dairies were always a part of that landscape. Some are birding hotspots know by the family’s name. On the other, I am excited to see a wilder version of the landscape take shape.

Western Dog Tick, Dermacentor similis, picked up on a hike to Sunshine Beach in Point Reyes and ID’ed with the help of iNaturalist. I was admiring the pattern on its back, though wasn’t thrilled to find it on my bootlace.

Estero trail to Sunshine Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore, on my July 4th hike this year. I read on the NPS website that Sunset Beach and Sunshine Beach are named for subdivisions a former owner of the Home Ranch wanted to build. Now almost all of the remaining ranches are closing.
