Great start of the academic year last Thursday, with our first iBBA colloquium! Together with Leda Cosmides we learnt what it means to be rational and how to properly test for it. Great attendance and wonderful talk! Stay tuned for the next colloquium, info to follow soon ;)

Jelmer Borst and I are looking for a PhD candidate to build an EEG-based model of human working memory! This is a really cool project that I've wanted to kick off for a while, and I can't wait to see it happen. Please share and I'm happy to answer any Qs about the project!

Talks:
• Dr. Sánchez-Fuenzalida: “Predictions, utility & visual illusions in subjective experience”
• Prof. Press: “Learning to perceive & perceiving to learn”
• Dr. van Holst: “Disadvantageous decision-making in gambling disorder”
• Dr. de Gee: “Noradrenaline & prior-belief updating across species”

We learned about measuring subjective experience in vision, using visual tasks to understand disorders like gambling addiction and OCD, the role of learning to predict in vision, and how neuromodulators like noradrenaline shape visual inference.
