And one of the finest writers of all time, the man behind the Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo continues to write amazing page-turners from almost 200 years ago.

The 4th Musketeers book was terrific and I'm currently on the final one, The Man In The Iron Mask.

My favourite books of the year seem to have been children's fantasy books or criminal investigations.

The Wizard of Oz sequels are much more fun than the first book, witty too.

Rumpole needs no explanation, but a real-life 1800s Irish detective in Scotland impresses with his luck and reasoning.
