When I read the Pepys diary extract below I thought, sounds familiar, stylistically... did Beckett read him? Answer: yes!

Two refs to Pepys (the only two) in Dirk Van Hulle and Mark Nixon's 2013 book 'Samuel Beckett's Library' (Cambridge University Press)

[Footnote] 17. Beckett read Pepys throughout 1978, despite admitting that he was 'bored to death' with him. Quotations from Pepys's diaries already appear in the 1930s 'Whoroscope' Notebook (WN72r).

Last night I sent off an 11th hour abstract for a workshop thing I'm interested in. This morning I noticed my proposal has a wrong date in it and the email it's attached to is word salad. 😳

If it's true that the brain is an isolated blob inside the Plato's cave of the skull, indirectly 'predicting' what's happening around it by interpreting the abstract signals helpfully provided by its host body, why are its primary sense organs (eyes, ears etc) arranged as close to it as possible?
