I sometimes have to go on Twitter for games history research (announcements, Randy Pitchford rants, etc) and it’s an awful user experience now even without the abuse.

When I WAS active, so many people there just hate-followed me, or scrolled hashtags for people to shout at. There was no “debate”.

One of the biggest mistakes left-of-center pundits and influencers made was decamping to Bluesky. They made themselves irrelevant, shrunk their audiences, and dramatically lessened the positive impact they could have on our public debate at the precise time we needed it most.

The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.

Note: they’d sold out of normal programmes and you can’t take pictures inside at all, hence a different pic than usual. This is my second time seeing it, my friend had an extra ticket last minute and I said yes to see Rob Madge in it (who was wonderful!) before they leave.
