I think if you, the player, want the game to engage more deeply with the philosophical conundrum of what it means to the creatures OF the Canvas to have it preserved or erased that's 100% valid, but it's quite poignant IMO to instead just show that Maelle is not staying there to make a rich tapestry

And we can see in Maelle's epilogue that she really lacks any authentic interest in creating a bustling "New Lumiere" so to speak. Aside from the people she paints in proximity to Sciel, Lune, and herself the entire rest of the audience is interchangeable nobodies clad entirely in white.

What evidence do you have that they didn't use a placeholder art pack that was simply mislabeled as not containing genAI? That's happened on other games, has it not? Devs pulled something off Adobe that wasn't labeled correctly for like....Megabonk was it?

They paid real artists, so....they do support real artists. If it's "either you do or you don't" and they do, then you're violating your own creed by criticizing them as if they don't.
