Preventive non–beta-lactam antibiotics linked to higher risk of surgical-site infections

In nearly 350,000 Swiss patients, use of non–beta-lactams before surgery was associated with a nearly two-fold increase in SSI risk compared with beta-lactams.

This is very interesting, I never thought of that correlation. For example, people are more likely to have a stroke after the flu. #Pitt_IDfall2025
Some common viruses may steeply raise risk of cardiovascular disease

The authors noted that viral infections trigger the immune system to release substances that lead to inflammation and increase the risk of blood clots.

This is definitely concerning for public health as more legislation is passed against vaccines.
“My concern is that there is going to be a large outbreak of not just measles, but other vaccine-preventable diseases as well, that’s going to end up causing a lot of harm, and possibly deaths in children,” said Dr. Anna Durbin of @johnshopkinssph.bsky.social.
