What do I think about EVs? The clue is in the name.

Complicated with all those "experimental" materials. But at the end of the day, this isn't a sector where BMW has normally offered a car.

I'm not endorsing it, and having to pay 2k€ for a small cable and 2 extra pins (what Renault calls a DC-charger) made me choose a base ID.3 instead of the R5, as it was as capable as the R5, a bit bigger and the leasing costs were even lower for the VW.

I don't know what is the case in France, but there is something going on in France, but you can't compare Germany with Italy, Spain and Poland, the EVs although they have a similar price tag in all those countries are more expensive in those other countries than in Germany.

From what I've heard, some countries will get it. But it is not different with the R5. The R5 five for under 25k€ is sold mostly in France, in other countries like Germany we only get the version for 27k€ but with some extras that make the car more valuable like a CCS port.

It's only my opinion, but comparing wholesale(retail + export) of a Chinese brand in China with an European Brand (mostly retail) distorts the picture a little bit.

But not at the prices the car was selling back then. And I don't know if the i3 could now sell at competitive prices.

Is Xiaomi not exporting many units? I mean, you're comparing YU7 wholesale units with Tesla local retail numbers.
I'm not saying that the YU7 hasn't surpassed the Model Y in sales in China, but the way you expose it is so confusing. But maybe it's just me.

A truly grateful road trip car, EV or not, is the one that feels as comfortable no matter if you drive 400 or 800 miles in a day. Ride comfort and noise level are important.

That their emissions are at least flat is a great step for humankind, still to high to be anyhow sustainable, but much better that still rising.

Yes, Volkswagen has currently a EV Problem in China, while still being the second most bought car brand behind BYD, it is miles away from BYD in the field of EVs.
The reasons are manyfold, but you could say, Chinese and Europeans expect different things from an EV.

It's Germany, one of the most conservative countries in Europe. Anything meaning a change of the known is first seen as a threat, then slowly embraced and then put in the throne of the only viable solution.
