Its a concentration camp, but there’s also an added layer of intentional cruelty and PR in choosing Guantanamo — a place the exemplifies the brutality and abuses of the American government. It’s about sending a message that migrants won’t just be detained, they will be made to suffer.

Humanity dies not when it takes its last breath, but when trauma is so severe the only coping mechanism left is to shed all empathy. We must ensure we don't get to that point.
