the only thing I use my microwave for these days is melting cheese on a toasted bagel, or cheese on top of my chicken breast which i put into a hamburger bun to make a chicken burger

in 2023 I cut out a lot of microwave food from my life because I was having an issue potentially with the amount of sodium in my diet. i also rarely eat pasta anymore. if i make pasta with sauce, it also feels like i'm living in poverty. feels like i'm a single mom of 3 kids trying her best

yeah all my food is in the freezer. chicken & bagels. or I have some food in the pantry.

I find it embarrassing how empty my fridge often is. but it's not because I cannot afford food; it's because I basically eat the same shit everyday. When I look into an empty fridge I think to myself "is this what poverty looks like?"

i like to think most North American data centres will be in cities with lots of hydro power. but i realize that's not entirely true because there's lots of forces trying to turn back on nuculear power plans with modern tech. that's my Quebec bias as we have lots of renewable energy (for now)

i can imagine companies trying to dump / off load some RAM by making special DRAM for consumers which uses HBM where right now, our DDR5 sticks would never be HBM

RAM / memory technology doesn't advance quite as quickly as GPUs. Old GPUs can become useless pretty fast. I feel like RAM, specially HBM (much more expensive to produce) will have use for a long time. I like to think the RAM production will be helpful even in the future because everything needs RAM

i feel like crypto and the AI data center aren't that similar. crypto was pretty specialized but also, people had crypto farms in their basements, under floorboards, etc. it's not really like a data center. crypto wasn't as general purpose as systems with copious amounts of memory

i think there will always be a use for systems with copious amounts of memory. people will find something to do with them. I don't know about recouping the costs or whatever. but I don't think they'll just flatten the entire data center. but I suppose time will tell

i know you're just trying to be funny on social media but there's no world where there's no need for data centers. even if the AI bubble bursts there's always a reason for data centers even if just "having more servers near more people". there's always use for compute
