One thing that has perplexed me during trump 2 - why aren't more of the liberal white American middle class protesting? Are they not seeing the ICE atrocities? Do they agree with what ICE is doing? Or are they just scared?

At this point it seems clear that Trump can do whatever he wants to American democracy and get away with it, but I don’t think the same can be said about the American economy.

Saw Adrianne Lenker in Toronto last night - wonderful show, one of the best songwriters writing today. The crowd mostly much younger, and such a sad, strong yearning among them. Beautiful, but I left feeling we have failed this generation in some fundamental ways. They deserve so much more.

The reality is, the three major superpowers of the world are now all fascist authoritarian states with unstoppable military power at their disposal. The rule of law does not exist in these regimes, and countries where it does exist are now virtually unprotected.
