Teens “would lose the freedom to enjoy games and social interaction in the name of safety.”

An amendment to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill could block under 16s from online games where they can interact or talk with other players.

The Online Safety Act returns to Parliament.

It has enabled iffy age-assurance providers, wrongly censored content and shuttered small sites while doing nothing to tackle the dominance of major platforms.

Age verification goes beyond porn. It includes social media, streaming, dating apps and gaming.

Millions of UK users have to trade their sensitive data to access information, services or support online.

We compromise our identity with no regulatory standards for privacy or security.

Our open letter calls for this to be corrected ahead of tomorrow's debate. We're supported by the Age Verification Providers Association and 600+ members of the public.

Facial recognition is biased. The police know it. The Home Office knows it. And they don't care.

This dangerous, intrusive tech produces more false positives for women, young people and members of ethnic minority groups.

We need Parliamentary scrutiny now!
