In this piece, I endorse Tufts Fletcher School faculty's proposal that universities challenge Trump's speech-based deportations of non-citizen students in court, and explain why this strategy is much better than letting targeted students fend for themselves: reason.com/volokh/2025/...
Universities Should Challenge Trump's Speech-Based Deportations of Students in Court
The Trump administration has been detaining and trying to deport immigrant and foreign students for their First-Amendment protected speech. That

What the hell is this?! Now all it takes to revoke a person's legally obtained visa is for anyone in the government to arbitrarily decide your exercise of free speech constitutes "creating a ruckus." Then poof: no more visa & the masked security services can abduct you off the street? In America?!!
Marco Rubio on Rumeysa Ozturk: "We revoked her visa ... once you've lost your visa, you're no longer legally in the United States ... if you come into the US as a visitor and create a ruckus for us, we don't want it. We don't want it in our country. Go back and do it in your country."

Wait, what?
Fox Business interviewed the owner of a Pennsylvania auto dealership who said of Trump's tariffs, "nobody is gonna buy the truck, because it just had $20,000 price increase."

I had the same thought - the ‘not targeting Russia stories’ feel lightly sourced.
Feel like journalists need to be more wary of what sources in DC are telling them anonymously. There is great incentive to discredit media at the moment. Easy for sources to give something on background with the aim of having gov then refute publicly after publishing in order to discredit media.

The President, through the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has frozen American assistance abroad. They are dismantling the US Agency for International Development.

Here is then Senator Rubio makes a powerful case for US aid. youtu.be/4VCnV1FylKY?...

We are better than this.
On Senate floor, Rubio speaks about importance of foreign aid in diplomacy

One obvious continuity between Trump and Biden is "this man is too old for the job of the president, and it terrifies me."

all of this from Drezner. Again, all of this.
"It’s like listening to a stoned, first-year MBA student who read his father’s outdated history books when he was a teenager and half-remembers them." danieldrezner.substack.com/p/am-i-suppo...
Am I Supposed To Take Curtis Yarvin Seriously?
Yarvin and the New York Times unwittingly make the best case ever for a liberal arts degree.

Honor Family Market is the best, but the first rule of northwest Michigan is we don’t talk about northwest Michigan lest other people discover it.
Honor Family Market is the only grocery store in the town of Honor, Michigan, and one of a shrinking number of independent grocers left in the U.S. Because the owners are ready to retire, a buyer would face the tight margins of a small business and competition against the giant chains.
