I just ordered 12 FluentPet buttons to try to teach our dog to talk to us.
It should be entertaining over winter next month.

It looks like it may be another T-shirt, flip-flop wearing Christmas here...

Early Merry Christmas to me from me. 🙃

I bought these Dec 1 for $44 each; today they're
$66. (Glad I bought 2 when I did or I wouldn't have any.)

2/ Second batch planted were 1/2 of the Ziva paperwhites.
The next planting day is 12/26 which give a long period of blooms.

I also planted 3 Eremurus stenophyllus/bungei & 10 Ornithogalum arabicum.
The 3 Eremurus went in separate pots. I filled a big pot for the Ornithogalum.

Now that I have time, I've redone the mock up to reflect 2 beds per 12' and a planter between each column/row of beds.

The smaller hoophouses are no more.
(I should have taken a picture before I started disassembling it, but you get the gist of how they were.)
If you look among the weeds & the cactus you can see the rebar sticking out around the remaining frame. Each end of the pipe slipped down over them.

This is a mock up of the growing pergola I hope to get built by next spring. The green islands are the beds.
Each pergola will be 12'x12'; each bed will be 10'x39" w/ 2' between the backs of them & 42" walkways. (This mock up shows the 4 beds per section at 16' long.)

Containers scrounge (29 by my count) and filled.
Once the olive trees are planted that will leave 25 for bulbs.

I may just pull this off, after all.

I went to the pile my spouse & youngest made of my unused containers & found a dozen 3 gal which will probably do nicely in a pinch.
I also found a dozen or so 5 gal in my hoop house that can be repourposed.
That should bring me up to my needed count.

I'll still be ordering new containers...

Additional plant holding area is complete & all the new plants are residing therein.

I still need to up pot the 4 newest olive 'trees', plus move the remaining plants on the north side of the house to here.

36° is the low forecast for Tues morning, then highs in the 70s for the next 4 days.

@rdaily.medsky.social Apparently our feeder is the new hangout in the neighborhood. Waiting room only.
Once this batch of feed is eaten I'll wait until after Christmas to refill it. For now, there are still bugs to eat.

Temporary set-up at the end of the south facing deck, by the Blanc Du Bois grapevine. Filled with heat treated seeds so we won't have a bunch of volunteers growing all over the place,

I read an extremely good book about her in 2023, Agent Josephine: American Beauty, French Hero, British Spy, by Damien Lewis.

It was incredibly enlightening and spellbinding.

All my plants, save for those at the front of the house & all those I up potted yesterday, are covered in 3 layers of frost cloth.
The new plants are cold tolerant, as should be the ones at the front of the house. <fingers crossed & prayers said>

Supposedly it's only going to get down to 36°.

I'm a fan of rebar in the garden. I like it because it's cheap, strong, & stays in place.
I recently saw this at a local nursery & want my spouse &/or youngest to build at least one for me.
