In case you hadn’t heard, a great voice and talent left us on Monday. Raul Malo, who co-founded the Mavericks, was wonderful to listen to. May he continue his music on the other side. Thank you so much, Raul. You gave us your gifts.

I just ordered 12 FluentPet buttons to try to teach our dog to talk to us.
It should be entertaining over winter next month.

The son of a former CIA director was declared winner

by a Supreme Court with two justices appointed by said CIA director

then went on to build a cabinet of said CIA director's inner core

and adopt said CIA director's unfulfilled overseas military objectives
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

What no one is telling you about the "$1,000 added to Healthcare Savings Accounts" is that you can't use that money to pay for premium, and you only get if you have insurance.

So most people will just not get anything, including insurance.

I hope the Dems realize that if they extend the ACA subsidies, and take no other steps, they are giving carte blanche to the biggest insurance companies and major hospital systems to find new ways to game the system and increase costs.

It's the fault of the DOJ/ FTC and politicians of both parties, for allowing big insurance companies and hospital systems to become the largest companies in the country, giving them the ability to set pricing and rules for healthcare

They run healthcare. Period end of story
Here's the thing:

They're going to do that regardless. They were doing it before the tax credits!

Healthcare is too expensive but that's not the fault of the ACA subsidies.

The smaller hoophouses are no more.
(I should have taken a picture before I started disassembling it, but you get the gist of how they were.)
If you look among the weeds & the cactus you can see the rebar sticking out around the remaining frame. Each end of the pipe slipped down over them.

This is a mock up of the growing pergola I hope to get built by next spring. The green islands are the beds.
Each pergola will be 12'x12'; each bed will be 10'x39" w/ 2' between the backs of them & 42" walkways. (This mock up shows the 4 beds per section at 16' long.)

Containers scrounge (29 by my count) and filled.
Once the olive trees are planted that will leave 25 for bulbs.

I may just pull this off, after all.

My youngest laid out the first 3 sections (of 5) of the growing pergola I want here next. (The wind tears everything up here, including hoop houses.)

To make room for them I'm deconstructing the frames & hoops for 2 - 24'x12' hoophouse frames that I never put covers on.

I was prepping to start filling 5 gal containers to up pot the 4 olive trees+start planting all of the bulbs & made a horrifying discovery - I only have 14 empty containers left! I need somewhere in the neighborhood of 35.
I can order more, but it'll be close to Christmas before they get here. 😬

Additional plant holding area is complete & all the new plants are residing therein.

I still need to up pot the 4 newest olive 'trees', plus move the remaining plants on the north side of the house to here.

36° is the low forecast for Tues morning, then highs in the 70s for the next 4 days.
