Small mining companies with African operations will often have on their boards former European government ministers, retired senior military figures and businessmen whose personal wealth is not dissimiliar to the GDP of the country they are investing in.

It is difficult to reconcile the apparent lack of importance of African mining to the global economy with the fact that some of the world's most powerful and well-connected people regularly get involved in mining deals in Africa.

I know people are already teaching these episodes, as I can see the backlinks from LMS. To assist such efforts, as I did with the HBCU arc from earlier in the season, I've created a landing page for the "Technofeudal Trilogy" with accessible readings by @yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social & many others.
What is Technofeudalism?
A landing page for teachers, students, and scholars.

It has been a profoundly challenging experience, both emotionally and linguistically, to work on this extraordinary piece of carceral writing. I tried translating it into vernacular Cantonese but had to give up after a few pages. How malleable language can be when under the bend of lived experience!
