intrigued by this perspective. We already have essentially mandatory logins/IDs for all sorts of government services. And it’s already mandatory to show proof of residence for employment, rental and for AML when buying a house. a digital ID could make this easier, cheaper and more private.

Absolutely love this adaptation, which I found a few years back. Also the BBC Radio (80s?) LoTR is excellent.

Essentially they performed a one-to-many scan of the entire db every time a user presented themselves. This was slow and inefficient and wouldn’t scale.

lol no. That is not why the Iris gates were decommissioned. There are technical and security reasons why, but Irises changing is not it.

It is ludicrous that we have huge numbers of people, who are out of the tax system entirely. It cuts them off from the choices that need to be paid to pay for our society.
