Delightful
Ever wondered where all the Cheers title photos are from? I did. And I've gathered everything I can find into this post. That was fun.

imagine, every day people with billions of dollars wake up and *don't* fund a $650 million adaptation of the Aubrey and Maturin books. how do they even sleep at night.
What we really need is a big, sweeping, Game of Thrones budget-level HBO series

OMG this is amazing. How long do you reckon it would take to get from London (Londoninium) to St Albans (Verulamium) in Roman times?

It takes 38 minutes by train.

In Roman Britain it would have taken 1.2 DAYS
The great news is that you know how that site says not much had changed since Roman times? Well, here's a site that calculates ALL the Roman travel times: orbis.stanford.edu
ORBIS: The Stanford Geospatial Network Model of the Roman World

also find this argument bewildering - if eg a woman decides to take her husband's last name, is she also "deciding what language others use" if she asks to be addressed by her married name? or wouldn't the weirdo be the person insisting on using her maiden name despite her no longer using it?
Also, note the bait-and-switch.

"[Juno] Dawson cannot dictate how others think, nor decide what language others use when they describe the reality they see."

Dawson did not decide. She made a complaint, as is her right. The press's own regulator decided.

trans people aren't the only ones who dictate how others address them; people get married, they get PhDs, they change their name for whatever reason, there are a lot of circumstances where cis people change the way people refer to them and no one ever complains about it, because that would be mental

Marvel should fully embrace the Carry On format. One main cast, with a few irregulars, in different roles in every movie. I want RDJ to be the Kenneth Williams of the MCU.
