This is all very welcome but for the mistake in the final paragraphs; Shelagh Delaney was from Salford!
Get it right MANCHESTER Guardian!
Hopefully, after a period of much talk and little action, the city that gave us Shelagh Delaney, Caroline Aherne and the Gallagher brothers can lead the way.

In other Novelists at The Cricket news, Samuel Beckett fell asleep at Lord's during the 1961 Ashes Test.
While he was in England, he accompanied the wheelchair-bound Harold Hobson to a crowded Lords Cricket Ground for the Test Match between England and Australia. It was a low scoring game which ground slowly to an English defeat and Beckett felt that he let himself down by falling fast asleep during the match, but he enjoyed the atmosphere and being there with Hobson, whom he liked.

TJ Davidson’s, also immortalised in the Love Will Tear Us Apart video and my book…
A bloke and a plaque

Site of the iconic
T.J. DAVIDSON'S
TIM RECORDS AND
REHEARSAL STUDIOS
From 1977-1981
Became the epicentre in the explosion of Manchester music

Legendary Joy Division
studios marked with plaque The first few hundred yards are comprised of nothing but a car park to our left and identical, redbrick and grey apartment blocks to our right, one of which occupies the geographical space that was TJ Davidson's, a recording studio and rehearsal rooms where Joy Division filmed the 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' video. Someone lives there now. Not with the same floor or the walls or graffiti riddled door, though I like to think something remains. The ghost of lan Curtis, perhaps, with his guitar shaped like some lost Dali design for a revamped twenty pence piece, while five yards away the renter/owner watches this same scene on a tiny rectangle.
