Between 1571 and 1573, Akbar moved the capital city to Fatehpur Sikri. The new city became the home of some of the most impressive architecture of Akbar’s reign and reflects a synthesis of Timurid traditions of Central Asia with indigenous traditions of Hindu and Muslim India.
