There's still time to sign up for the @infolitgroup.bsky.social 'Submitting a LILAC abstract' online workshop. It's happening tomorrow (Fri 3 Oct), 12-1pm BST. Get some practical tips for your #LILAC26 presentation proposal! Book your place ➡️ buff.ly/I1ZT6z6
The logo for the LILAC 2026 conference. The logo is circular with a lilac background, all text within the circle is a white colour and all images are white with a lilac outline, to show detail. At the centre of the circle there are two female figures. They are stood facing forwards but looking in different directions. They are wearing overalls and boots. They both have a cloth hanging out of a pocket and the figure on the right has goggles on her forehead. They each have one arm around the other and their other hand is on their own hip.

The figures are based on the Women of Steel bronze sculpture that commemorates the women of Sheffield who worked in the city's steel industry during the First World War and Second World War. It was created by the sculptor Martin Jennings.

Above the figures are the words LILAC: The information literacy conference, below the figures is the word Sheffield - all words are in capital letters. To the left of the figures is the number 20 and to the right of the figures is the number 26.

Initiatives like Scotland's "Living with AI" course & programs in Finland & Canada show what's possible. The UK must learn from these examples, supporting trusted institutions like libraries & community groups to scale AI literacy. We can’t leave AI education to industry alone. #FutureofAI
infolitgroup.bsky.social
We're calling for accessible, independent materials and opportunities for diverse communities—parents, older people, underserved groups—to engage critically with AI. This isn't just about adopting tools; it's about AI affecting all our lives & building public trust. #DigitalSkills #CommunityLearning
infolitgroup.bsky.social
Why is this so vital? Currently, less than 25% of the population feels their views are represented in AI decisions. Critical AI literacy goes beyond tech skills; it's about understanding social & environmental impacts of AI & ensuring public voices shape its future. #PublicEngagement #ResponsibleAI

Hey IL folks! If you thought censorship was just impacting school librarians, take a look at my new article in @timeshighered.bsky.social exploring what challenges to intellectual freedom mean for HE teaching librarians, too. How do we shift our work from overload to absence?
