To be diagnosed with an illness is just that -- your particular pathology has caused a problem in your life. Very many people with autistic traits CANT be diagnosed because it hasn't caused "significant hardship"

Due to my own philosophical biases, I don't think these personal expressions of bias significantly contribute to marginalization. So because in my view it's not going to affect the social structures, and it's not hateful or hideously condescending I don't know that they need a lesson.

Yes, and you're right it's a common problem where someone wants to reassure another person who's experiencing a difficulty but they actually don't understand it at all so they are insulting. Honestly the southern "bless your heart" and keep it moving is my best case

Well in the case of "not reading" people effectively, everyone has blindspots. Obviously particular types of autism make that harder... Honestly I read it as "if you're trying to see cues, you're probably doing better than those who aren't, even if your 'reading people' muscle doesn't work"

I'm also ADHD and do not function when I have to "mask" or "not stim" ... The OP was obviously saying "hey actually I don't think your struggle is particular," implying "you're doing great, and in fact your self awareness is good"
