Good: CDC’s outbreak publication (MMWR) is now up and running after the first pause in over 70 years

Bad: Todays publication is about fires, and not the missing bird flu or mpox studies we knew were up for publication. Of which have safety implications for veterinarians and people with house cats

Trump’s choice to lead HUD has a history of voting against protections for poor tenants.

His pick to lead the IRS once pushed to abolish the agency entirely.

Revisit our reporting on some of Trump’s key appointees:

Shock & awe distracting us from the real evils.
🧵 THREAD: Trump and Rubio have arrested the international humanitarian aid system and forced lifesaving aid programs to completely halt operations — despite an announcement earlier in the week claiming they had changed course. 1/

Let's face it. DEI is the Republican Party's rhetoric campaign for 2025 replacing transgender bathrooms.

As they distract from real issues, they're screwing their base over with draconian cuts and raising taxes on everyone but the super-rich.

100% accurate
Calling bullshit on their lies isn't censorship. Failed insurrectionists aren't heroes. Fighting racism and helping underserved communities isn't discrimination. Showing empathy isn't evil. Supporting trans kids isn't abuse. Don't accept their twisted frames as reality.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

In case you weren’t aware, DEI efforts aren’t just meant to make the workplace more welcoming for people you are bigoted against. It’s also used to support older people (boomers!), folks with disabilities, and veterans. Folks who just want to be seen for who they are and given a chance to succeed.

Pointing out the obvious here, just ‘cause: Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are supposed to be American values. If you associate “DEIB”, you’re not the patriot you think you are.

Using “DEI” as the scape goat for anything that goes wrong is an obvious dog whistle to distract folks from his lack of leadership. But blaming DEI or affirmative action reveals your assumption that women and BIPOC folks can’t be as competent as white men. It reveals sexist and racist attitudes.

Been trying not to over stress about stuff I can’t control. But this shock & awe approach to governance by a president who can’t even say he won by a landslide is too much to watch without commenting.
