I know traditionally people chose sometimes the most flowery names for their book collections like 千峰堂藏书印 "book collection seal of the study hall atop a thousand peaks", but I'm a simple man. Sorry if am disappoint. 😌

Just got this recently. I have this distant plan to translate 西湖夢尋 into Hungarian.

The more I read about this man, the more fascinating he becomes, for real.

The second concept is 印外求印 by which he meant that he often had to carve his seals on non-jade materials like ceramics, bricks, clay pieces etc. due to being poor. So things outside of the realm of seal carving saved, upheld his seal carving. Ceramic seal by Yan Shougu 燕守谷:

So the first concept is 印从书出 by which he meant the biggest influence on his seal carving style were the stone drum inscriptions 石鼓文, but he learned those from books, not from willy-nilly or didn't come up with them himself. Stone drum inscriptions:

With each seal dedicated to each carver I think I will try to work in, though not mechanically emulate their style. Either this or I will try to work on a personal flair, I'm still hung up on this. We'll see when I get there. First method would be me learning the tradition.

For instance there are entire sets or series of seals to be carved solely around the suffering him and his family were subjected to during the Taiping rebellion. Or his absolute dedication to art. The depth of his unwavering reflection on the world etc.

They will not simply be their names, that would be easy, stupid even. They will rather reflect some aspect of their lives, thoughts or works. Will need to do a lot more research. I read a book and a half on Wu Changshuo, but I have read none on the rest, only admired their seals.
