The Supreme Court will today begin hearing an appeal against a decision earlier this year to allow the demolition of public housing towers in North Melbourne and Flemington.

IMCL has lodged the appeal on behalf of public housing residents who allege the government has breached their human rights.

Tomorrow night, Melbourne City Council will decide whether to spend more than $4 million on extra security guards and CCTV cameras in the CBD.

The council should redirect this money to help people struggling with rising costs of living and housing affordability.
