The state government needs to accept that police cannot be left to deal with the problem of racial profiling on their own.
There must be external, independent oversight and monitoring by a police ombudsman so Victoria Police are held to account.

Further police powers to limit protests and freedom of expression would have the effect of undermining the right to protest and unfairly target people exercising their democratic rights.

There is massive evidence that begging and homelessness is often linked to family violence as was the case for Jessica Geddes. Governments at all levels should be investing in services that address root causes of poverty and homelessness and begging should be decriminalised in Victoria ASAP.

There is massive evidence that begging and homelessness is often linked to family violence as was the case for Jessica Geddes. Governments at all levels should be investing in services that address root causes of poverty and homelessness and begging should be decriminalised in Victoria ASAP.
They can choose to spend a total of $4.1 million on measures that will criminalise poverty and homelessness and make the CBD less safe for people who need help the most.
Or they can listen to the community and work together to create a fair and inclusive society for everyone.
