I like movies a lot. I worry about right-wing extremism. I play and sometimes write tabletop RPGs. I do SRE things but don’t speak for my employer here. I grew up in New England and live with my wife in Seattle. He/his.

Here’s his character sheet, for the curious. This is Timur-10. Timur-11 also came to a bad end. As noted, cowardly — there are reasons he burned so many more clones than any of the other PCs. Amazon Exxon-Mobile was actually the original! (“My parents sold my naming rights before I was born.”)

Coolest thing: the GM had a deck of these cards we could choose characters from. They’re excellent: compact and the character is front and center with stats tucked away on the back. These are way new, just crowdfunded. I loved them. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...

Hey, #LastFourFriday! Will the automation work? Finding out together...

Anyway all bangers this week. Go find Filibus on YouTube, do yourself a favor, plus a late breaking addition to my 2025 Top Ten. 📽️

“At an altitude of 2,000 meters, she plots her next moves.”

I am very much on board for a Filibus revival. If you know, you know. 📽️

I don't think this will make my life that much better but writing a user script that allows me to label #Seattle Times commenters has produced very satisfying results.

New year, new #LastFourWatched! Solid week on the whole -- a new NYD long watch, a completely unexpected slice of 80s insanity on the 31st, finished up my Forzani/Cattet watch (all four in 2025!), and Soderbergh is as always quietly competent. 📽️

Down at the Beacon for my first Five Minutes to Live event — really excited! They’re gonna show the first five minutes of five movies, and we’re gonna vote on which one we want to see. I will report back. 📽️ thebeacon.film/calendar/mov...

Beautiful chilly morning in Ballard.

What a world we live in!

G'morning! Time for #LastFourWatched. If you happen to be in Seattle, the Beacon is celebrating Boxing Day with four high quality boxing movies, just sayin'. My last four movies were, um, split in terms of quality. Sometimes you just watch stuff. 📽️

From the interior wall of Swoon City, our #Seattle romance-focused bookstore. Totally worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Quiet week this week with a lot of Josh O'Connor. #LastFourWatched 📽️

Back at it, baby. #LastFourFriday. We're heavy on the HP Lovecraft shorts this week thanks to the HPL Film Festival streaming offerings, and then also we saw an insane giallo homage as we continue our dive into Cattet and Forzani. 📽️

Lovely time tonight hanging out at the @scarecrowvideo.bsky.social members holiday night!

Dear Seattle Times: when a politician actually runs for state-wide office as a Republican, not to mention recording videos with Brandon Straka encouraging Democrats to leave their party, you might want to think about exactly who was responsible for the idea that said politician is a Republican.

We visited the memorial last time we were in Montreal.

Welp, that officially puts me under 200 pounds for the first time in a long time. It’s weird. My weight has never bugged me but the sleep apnea, diabetes, and high blood pressure were enough reasons to go on Zepbound and… here I am. I feel a little odd celebrating it. Nevertheless.

We wound up watching our morning movie before I posted this, which is unusual for me, but irrelevant to anyone else. Anyhow it's #LastFourFriday! Lotta noir (mostly as part of our Noirsgiving marathon), another fine Radiance discovery, and the kindest slasher movie about gay porn I can imagine. 📽️

Crypt of the Vampire, sure. My Letterboxd mutuals are deeply mixed on this.

Share a 90s movie you think deserves more love…

That’s tough. Most of the 90s movies I really love are generally appreciated; the more obscure ones are mostly critical favorites.

“I wish more people would see Drifting Clouds!”
“No shit.”

But Next Stop Wonderland (con’t).

TFW your players get custom dice for the “one-shot” that’s already run for three sessions. #TTRPG

I am not sure why it took me 20+ years to realize I should keep TTRPG campaign material in file folders, further organized with liberal use of paperclips, but here I am.

NW: Choice of Arms, the last movie in the @filmsradiance.bsky.social Alain Corneau boxed set. It’s been a great set so far, although real world death and sexual abuse casts a dark shadow over these already fairly dark movies. 🎥

Last day of work before vacation is a good time for #LastFourWatched. And what a week -- two special screenings most recently, both with the director presenting, plus a classic Varda I've been saving. 📽️

I am overwhelmed. Thank you, Jafar Panahi and @siffnews.bsky.social. 📽️
