It's also a problem that Hegseth is incompetent.

So, yeah, if anything it seems like the opposite, people are desperate to see evidence that Democrats believe in nothing. Thus will look at a sound bite, and immediately freak out, for reasons that are largely inscrutable.

Just from my perspective this seems more about reiterating general grievances than it is any sort of substantive critique of a motto or book.

Ok but you understand how weird it is that people who are "desperate for even a signal that 'these people' will actually stand for something," get real mad at the prospect that one person, Jefferies, read a book, and might believe in something.

I very much doubt that they’d be able to explain exactly why they're angry about the book But if forced they’d contextualize the book as a shibboleth or worse as a mental poison that infects people with centrism,

American here: What does that mean?

This is the thing, they teach you how to do basic outlines and formatting in middle school, she does not do that here, does a poor job of segregating individual points/trains of thought in separate paragraphs, doesn't even do a good job on the intro or conclusion.
November 29, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Lazy and stupid. This is something that was written without an outline, and minimal editing. It doesn't even follow the standard essay format (Intro, different point made in each paragraph, conclusion.) Reads like a High School freshman wrote it.
November 29, 2025 at 6:23 PM
This is bad real bad. I honestly don't think the person who wrote this bothered doing an outline first or anything, not even sure they know how paragraphs are supposed to work.
November 29, 2025 at 6:07 PM
This reads like the writer didn't even bother making a loose outline. Let alone a rough draft. I don't even think they understand what function a paragraph serves.
November 29, 2025 at 6:06 PM
It's also objectively poorly written.
November 29, 2025 at 5:56 PM
One hundred percent you'd be able to do a better article if you just did the standard essay format everyone learns in high school. Introduction, 3-5 main points, each point a paragraph, (each having topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentence) then conclusion.

Joking aside, the big red flag is how often words and similar concepts repeat in proximity to each other. How there isn't a clear division on through line between thoughts. It reads as jumbled up, where thoughts just get thrown in, as if there was no attempt at all to edit this.
November 29, 2025 at 5:50 PM
I can't even get through the first screenshot without cringing a few times, this is middle school level. Even I can tell it's bad and I'm not a good writing guy and all that stuff.

I think it's meant as a carrot for Maduro to step down so that Trump can get a win..... but like that's stupid, but also, just because it is stupid doesn't mean it's not what is going on
November 29, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Seriously the American media took the run up to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, then they have with whatever is going on in right now with the Admin and Venezuela.

Feels like a guy who constantly talks about wanting to be immortal sort of owes it to everyone to have an ironic death. Dying at 85 to cancer just will not do it.
November 29, 2025 at 3:59 PM
I'm not saying it should happen, I'm just saying it'd be funny *if* this guy died from the mushrooms.
