Its frustrating bc it ends up pitting queer women against each other for trying to piece out sparse representation from media that largely cater to straight men.

And bc it reinforces an idea that u arent a lesbian unless ur "gold star" ignoring many queer peoples complicated lived experiences

Honestly this thread is about Destiny from xmen. But if you look at marvel comics as a whole i believe Karma is still the most prominent character to explicitely identify as a lesbian (and the first superhero to do so.) There is also America Chavez who i believe is one and hasnt said so explicitely

Despite the facr you could come up with 750 reasons why she had kids and shes still a lesbian. Or just nor awknowledge it at all.

And its not to say that bi women dont or cant exist. It just appears to be even more difficult to have long time established characters be identified as such

Flash foward a couple decades ans you are allowed to talk about these things openly. And you have writers have the character say "marrying a man would have killed her" but youre not allowed to explicitely call her a lesbian in the text bc its implied she has had relationships and children w men.

Like oh you have a character that was initially written in a commited relationship with another woman as explicitely as you possobly could at the time. Writers change hands and you enver explicitely said this character Wasn't Into Men. So we just mentioned they had some inconsequential children
