Up with the fishermen this morning. An absolutely incredible paddle despite occasionally getting caught in their wake.
An open fishing yawl with one person in it zooms across the glassy water in the dim peach coloured light of sunrise. The dark wave of the wake of a boat closes in on the bow of a blue kayak. The wave is dark against the peach coloured light of the morning sky before sunrise.

Some truly amazing news: I've been appointed full Professor of Energy & Climate Policy at @ox.ac.uk.

Honestly have to pinch myself. It's been a non-traditional path to academia, and it feels like things have come full circle from starting an enviro group as a kid in the late 1980s.

3,000 people turned out today in Marquette! This is for a small city where the temp hovered around freezing with the wind whipping off Lake Superior. We put on our coats, hats, and snow pants and got out there.

After they stop receiving milk, juvenile southern elephant seals are forced to fast while their mothers leave for weeks to feed themselves. Charlanne & co suggest that this fasting might prime the seals' bodies for the deep dives they'll soon be making
