applications to social networks are obvious - we all hate each other and want to be as far apart as possible, but these connections just keep pulling us back together

I guess it might be sort of interesting that Harley Cameron (#250) appears to be the highest-ranked wrestler with a losing record in singles. She's got quality losses to Mone (#3), Bayne (#4), Athena (#9), Thekla (#70), and Monroe/May (#77) plus (fluke?) wins over Deonna (#84) and Starkz (#130)

don't go looking for the Russian indie scene as a point of comparison, nothing good will come of that

Also it needs to be noted this only takes into account matches in 2025. One interesting result is that Miyu Yamashita's adventures abroad have resulted in her having a 18-12 record in singles this year and a rating below Wakana Uehara

There's not a lot of truly surprising stuff in here - other than the bunches of indie wrestlers who are booked really strong in their home promotions or regions but that aren't getting much national attention.

For the sake of sanity, this is only ranking wrestlers who had at least 5 matches in 2025... sorry to the many thousands of female wrestlers who aren't getting nearly enough opportunities in the ring

this is using a glicko2 rating algorithm, so the 'RD' column is a measure of uncertainty - the higher the number, the more uncertain the rating is.

* TJPW pulled away from the main body of Joshi by their broader international connections
* WWE is on the far side of the universe from Japan, but the connections to AAA are visible

Interesting things you can see in this visualization:
* just how isolated Actwres girl'Z is from the rest of the Joshi scene
* how central AEW is to the international scene (connecting Mexico, Japan, and the US Indies) but how sparse their internal connections are (not enough matches!)

Spoiler, BIG HASH is #1 in the world on this measure.

You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

There's also a version that only shows wrestlers who worked in Japan this year: introvert.net/2025/joshine...

I don’t think it was the depth that was the problem

I can believe it - an undersized (white) former linebacker with a reputation for "tough" and "grit" who talks incessantly about "responsibility" and "hard work" and "character" is catnip to conservative old alumni

I haven’t followed football for years, and the distance has provided the clarity that it’s really unclear what his demonstrated coaching strengths were: not recruiting, not play-calling, not managing staff, not media. Probably best at impressing particular types of vibes-based donors?

By your 30s, you should be bitching that any pop culture catering directly to you is obviously a profoundly uncool form of pandering

Honestly I think our alderpersons should also be our state reps

I love this movie, but it’s not good, exactly? It’s stylish instead?
