🤭 Day. Made.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed California to use a new voter-approved congressional map that is favorable to Democrats in this year's elections, rejecting a last-ditch plea from state Republicans and the Trump administration. https://to.pbs.org/4klmObt
Supreme Court allows California to use congressional districts that favor Democrats
No justices dissented from the brief order denying the appeal without explanation, as is common on the court's emergency docket.

Intellectually, I get that huge swaths of the U.S. public see news daily that immigrant populations are violent criminals.

Emotionally, my reaction is more, screaming “but it’s not true, you bonehead.” And then *shooting their TV or slap their phones out of their hands.

These hearings…oof…so important and so hard.

This article…not even a little surprised.
Not a single Republican member of Congress showed up to the public forum featuring testimony from the brothers of Renee Good.

Also testifying were Marimar Martinez, who was shot five times in Chicago and Martin Daniel Rascon, who was shot at in California driving with his family. trib.al/yjCZAoV

Not digging the #UpScrolled lack of an algo.

I bitched about the algo in other places like everyone else but, ummm, I’m kinda eating crow now. The discover feed, for example,
is soooo bad.

I don’t know. Tell me otherwise.

Is this where they’ve spent the stolen Social Security $, the stolen Pre-K money, the stolen USAID money, and all the rest of the $ that has been stolen from the U.S. people?
$1.5T military budget
$170B for ICE and Border Patrol (over 4 years)
$100B on tax cuts for the 1% (per year)
$1B to refurbish Trump's Qatar jet
$496M to send National Guard into cities
$200M for Kennedy Center renovations
$200M for Kristi Noem's jets
$100M for Trump's golf outings

Priorities.

These days, it feels borderline delusional to think it will do any good to mock Trump or the various malevolent dorks around him.

But, in a way, the jokes are a way of reasserting and insisting upon observable reality: what’s taking place is shocking, reprehensible—and also powerfully wack.
