This was so much fun to record and I hope will be an equally enjoyable listen for the Ham Fam.

Segments, assignments from God, Pirate planets, blood sucking stones, swordplay, giant farting squids and nuclear war! Everything is to play for in this astonishing season of Doctor Who... @nathanbottomley.com @ioanmorris.bsky.social @tobyhadoke.bsky.social

Big, bold swings to the last. Three years in, War Machines establishes what a "standard" Doctor Who story looks like, Tenth Planet establishes the mechanism for the show to last another six decades, and Gunfighters establishes that the opinions of organised fandom are frequently a load of bollocks.

I'd like to speak to someone who works (or worked) for the Probation Service as part of some research I'm doing for a writing project.

Haven't had any luck through official channels, so if anyone knows someone who'd be willing to chat about their experience, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

Talk about option paralysis.

Right back to the beginning of the journey of The X-Files; where paranoia is rife, Mulder and Scully first meet, the Smoking Man makes his first appearance and we see our first abduction. Joe & @ioanmorris.bsky.social investigate.

Joe's podcast gives the impression that Doctor Who fandom is a lovely, positive and welcoming community. The man needs to be stopped.

1000 episodes of propaganda and sadly it seems there will be many more to come.

Listen at your peril.

Happy 1000th episode to all of the Ham Fam! Celebrations, reminiscences, laughter, madness, and so many voices within. This is our hugely indulgent party where we celebrate the most incredible thing to come out of this podcast - the community.

So much fun. Autons, great. Mind of Evil, great. Axos, great. Colony… the book is great. Daemons has gone all the way back round to being underrated. Manning is delightful, Delgado is glorious, and Pertwee is a glorious prick. Other opinions are available, but they’re wrong.

I had a great time scoring this series for Gary and the team. Really pleased with how it's turned out.

A reminder about Spectre of the Bear screening at Green Man on Sunday at 2:40pm, and director @joshhicks.bsky.social taking part in a Q&A panel at lunchtime today. Enjoy the weekend!

One final(?) screening for Spectre of the Bear.

If you're at Green Man this weekend and a cool, dark tent sounds appealing on Sunday afternoon, then our 'conspiracy comedy about crisps' is being screened at 2:40pm.

A collage of two large images and four small ones. Large 1: Poster for Still Pushing Pineapples, featuring a dashboard decoration of a man wearing a pineapple costume and singing into a microphone. Th car is driving through a dark, rainy seaside town. Text reads “Still Pushing Pineapples.” Large 2: Poster for Mr Burton, featuring Harry Lawtey. Text over the top reads “From the producer of The Brutalist. Based on a true story. Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Lesley Manville. Mr Burton. Some are born great. Some are inspired to be great. Small 1: Still from short film Mother’s Day, featuring a woman hugging her child. Small 2: Still from animated film Spectre of the Bear, featuring a man looking scared under the shadow of a giant bear. Small 3: still from Pink, featuring two people sitting on a bathroom floor while banknotes dry on the walls. Small 4: still from Mauled by a Dog, featuring a person singing karaoke in front of a glitzy curtain.

Excellent discussion. Lots of strong opinions, argued in good faith. Really good listen.

Part relaunch, part end of an era, a likeable TARDIS gang with Capaldi in his pomp and an interesting tweak to the format (even if the university stuff fades away later on). And yet, despite it feeling like a breath of fresh air at the time, there's little here I've ever been compelled to revisit.

Chloe Annett on both Red Dwarf and Crime Traveller at the same time. Very much the Varada Sethu of 1997.

A great actor, but more than that, an excellent leading man. For good or ill, the performance against which all subsequent Doctors are judged.
