Big, bold swings to the last. Three years in, War Machines establishes what a "standard" Doctor Who story looks like, Tenth Planet establishes the mechanism for the show to last another six decades, and Gunfighters establishes that the opinions of organised fandom are frequently a load of bollocks.

So much fun. Autons, great. Mind of Evil, great. Axos, great. Colony… the book is great. Daemons has gone all the way back round to being underrated. Manning is delightful, Delgado is glorious, and Pertwee is a glorious prick. Other opinions are available, but they’re wrong.

Part relaunch, part end of an era, a likeable TARDIS gang with Capaldi in his pomp and an interesting tweak to the format (even if the university stuff fades away later on). And yet, despite it feeling like a breath of fresh air at the time, there's little here I've ever been compelled to revisit.
